The state-run propagandists are the ones actually reporting fake, fabricated news as they portray themselves as the guardians against what they are in reality the proliferaters of. Fake news is in reality often the truth. Opposing viewpoints that are uncomplimentary to the establishment or potentially damaging are, for those reasons, not for any failure of veracity, being banned from the public realm.
So what is being labeled, in this case, by the thought and speech Nazis of Berlin, as fake news, is truth. The agency created to control it is the actual creation of the infamous Orwellian “Ministry of ‘Truth.’”
RT reports that the German government is creating an agency that is officially described as a defense against disinformation and that it plans to have it fully functional as a protection against the potential of inconvenient truths derailing Chancellor Merkel’s attempt to bully her way to a fourth term. She’s fully aware of the damage the truth did to the campaign of her clone, Hillary Clinton, and understands that the free press is her Achilles heel.
Building upon the existing Federal Press Office in the Chancellery, which has a staff of over 500, Merkel will create a “fake news defense center,” according to reports in Der Spiegel citing an unnamed Interior Ministry staff member.
According to the Interior Ministry plan, the center will focus on offering “intensification of political education work” with groups susceptible to “fake news” – namely “Russian-Germans” as well as “Turkish-speaking people.” Political education is sometimes less-sensitively described by the more accurate terms of reeducation or “brainwashing.”
Der Spiegel predicted the creation of the center “should be negotiated very quickly,” adding that their sources indicated it would be operational with “mutually agreed upon” ground rules for the 2017 election campaigns. The Interior Ministry is also said to be “urging” politicians not to use social bots and disinformation techniques during the election cycle. That’s the job of the ministry.
In the lead up to the enactment of censorship, Merkel and her thugs, such as “Justice” Minister Heiko Maas, called for legal consequences for internet giants like Facebook who fail to properly censor their users from speech declared unacceptable.
Maas stated, “We expect clear improvements in Facebook’s removal practice. The standard must be German law.” Going even further, Social Democrat Party parliamentary chairman Thomas Oppermann called for social media outlets to be prosecuted for their role in “validating” fake news. He told Der Spiegel, “If, after the relevant checks, Facebook does not immediately, within 24 hours, delete the offending post then [it] must reckon with severe penalties of up to 500,000 Euros.” Seig Heil, Mein Chancellor; why not just post excerpts of Mein Kampf?
Others like Patrick Sensburg of Merkel’s Christian Democrats, agree that speech and free ideas are their most dangerous enemy, arguing in a Tuesday interview with Deutsche Welle that the government should be “ratcheting up the statutory offenses” against “fake news producers” and “take action against the people who run these websites.”
They even went so far as to employ the fake news of the United States propagandists, the “Russian Hacker Boogeyman” as being potentially disruptive to the electoral process although zero supportive evidence has been forthcoming. Government fake news doesn’t require proof, it’s the government and we all know they never lie.
In setting the stage for the censorship campaign, following the victory of truth and the American people over propaganda and Hillary Clinton, Berlin engaged in a disinformation campaign. They accused Russia of being involved in a number of hacking attacks, including on Deutsche Telecom and parliament. In the latest set of accusations, which saw the files of over 900,000 Deutsche Telecom customers compromised in late November, Merkel suggested that “such cyber attacks, or hybrid conflicts as they are known in Russian doctrine, are now part of daily life and we must learn to cope with them.”Her solution for coping is called trampling on the basic rights of the formerly free German people.
On Sunday Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper published an article that quoted a high-ranking anonymous security official. Naturally, he’s not going to use his own name when he doesn’t really exist or his claims are demonstrable lies. He supposedly claimed that it was “highly plausible” that Russian hackers were behind a German parliamentary hack in 2015.
Highly plausible is not the same thing as a fact or the establishment of guilt, it’s a strong maybe. It’s enough when the intent is to establish the public perception of fact after having been repeated for a sufficient number of times by the media.
Der Spiegel responded that “Contrary to various media reports, there is absolutely no indication that the documents were stolen during a cyber attack on the Bundestag in the year 2015,”citing its own source.
Of course, theirs must be fake news. It doesn’t support the official Berlin narrative. The Ministry of Truth will carry on.
