President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping his campaign headquarters during the election in a series of messages on Twitter.
“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory,” he wrote on Twitter. “Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”
Trump questioned whether it was legal for Obama to be wiretapping a presidential candidate while he was still in office.
“How low has President Obama gone to tapp (sic) my phones during the very sacred election process,” he wrote. “This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy! Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!”
Trump is likely referring to calls from talk radio hosts Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh to investigate the nature of the Obama administration’s investigations of his campaign aides for their communications with Russia, as Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak reported.
As former Heat Street editor Louise Mensch reported the day before the election, “sources with links to the counter-intelligence community” confirmed that a FISA court had granted a FISA court warrant in October to monitor activities in Trump tower. They were previously denied a request in June, according to the report as well as a report in the Guardian.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the Obama team classified the investigation at the lowest possible level, allowing the data gathered from the investigation to be shared and leaked widely within the administration.
In January, The New York Times reported that intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the Obama White House even though there was “no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing” between Russian officials and associates of Trump.
On Twitter, Trump suggested that he might even have legal options against the former president.
“I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!” he wrote.

It appears that President Trump now has access to classified information that Barack Obama likely wishes he couldn’t see.
Lindsey Graham, a rabid anti-Trump hater, has even come out in support of the President with his statement on the scandal that has the potential to bring DC to its knees.

Here’s What The Media’s Not Telling You About Trump Wire-Tapping
The media is hiding something about President Trump’s Saturday morning tweets about surveillance at Trump Tower.
Namely, that the evidence they deny exists was heavily reported on at the time of the tapping.
While story after story breaks on Trump’s assertion that Trump Tower’s phones were tapped, with headlines repeating the phrase “no evidence” again and again, it’s easy to believe that lie.
The truth is that the evidence was there, and was reported on my the same massive media outlets which would later deny its existence.
Should we really be surprised at this point that writers for the New York Times were told to paint a picture of this story as if they don’t remember covering it? Just make sure to say “no evidence,” and the story’s there.

Contrary to earlier reporting in the New York Times, which cited FBI sources as saying that the agency did not believe that the private server in Donald Trump’s Trump Tower which was connected to a Russian bank had any nefarious purpose, the FBI’s counter-intelligence arm, sources say, re-drew an earlier FISA court request around possible financial and banking offenses related to the server.
The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russia’s Alfa Bank.
While the Times story speaks of metadata, sources suggest that a FISA warrant was granted to look at the full content of emails and other related documents that may concern US persons.
Security professionals Jim Hanson and Lt. Col Tony Shaffer appeared on Fox and Friends to assert that surveillance continued after connections to Russia were dismissed.

Unfortunately for the NYT, some people do have memories, and as the story develops, the media will have a harder and harder time fooling their viewers and readers.
