Are you feeling the chill more than usual this spring? That might be because Melbourne is shivering through the coldest start to spring in more than a decade.
Bureau of Meteorology records reveal the average maximum temperature for the first 13 days of spring in the city this year is a scant 16.1 degrees.
The last time the average dipped below that in the first two weeks of September, was in 2004.
“We’ve certainly had a few instances of low snowfalls,” Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Stuart Coombs said.

“And there have been four days where the temperature has dropped below 15 degrees, the last time it did that was in 2004.”
The Bureau changed its CBD weather station from Lonsdale Street to Olympic Park in 2013.
“Looking at the last four years, since we moved to the new site at Olympic Park, there’s always been a 20 degrees day in September by now,” Mr Coombs said.
