Did Swedish govt allow burning of Quran in front of Turkish embassy? Sweden’s NATO application on thin ice

Tensions between Sweden and Turkey seem to soar amid a diplomatic conflict with the former’s NATO application at stake which led to a slew of protests and demonstrations.

During one such protest, a Danish activist Rasmus Paludan set the Quran on fire outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on January 21. Turkey held Sweden accountable for allowing the Quran-burning incident.

Outrage against the Quran burning saw hundreds of people gathering outside the Swedish Consulate in Istanbul, and burning a photo of Danish activist Rasmus Paludan, as per the Washington Post.

Protests against the incident were reported in Ankara and Istanbul condemning Sweden for ‘state-supported Islamophobia’. On January 22, protestors in Turkey carried green flags that read, “We condemn Sweden’s state-supported Islamophobia”.

However, a sign on a window of the Swedish Consulate in Ankara read, “We do not share that book-burning idiot’s view”.

Notably, the conflict between the two countries began when Turkey, already a NATO member, held up Sweden and Finland’s applications to join the NATO alliance.

To become a NATO member, the applicant country has to get approval from all 30 countries. Turkey and Hungary have so far not given their votes.

Turkish politicians have slammed Sweden for allowing the Quran-burning incident.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson noted in a tweet late Saturday that ‘freedom of expression was crucial to democracy’ but added that ‘what is legal is not necessarily appropriate’.

“Burning books that are holy to many is a deeply disrespectful act. I want to express my sympathy for all Muslims who are offended by what has happened in Stockholm today,” Kristersson wrote.

Turkish President Erdogan is yet to comment on the incident.

What kind of a problem would need FAKE and manipulated documentation?

Look at all these “Climate Agreements.” We continue to lose money, prosperity and freedom while the CO2 level continue to increase, when do we say enough??
