Federal authorities are on alert after the discovery of ten IEDs and weapons at the Arizona-Mexico border. The discovery came after authorities from both sides of the border responded to the area for a reported gunbattle.
The incident appears to have been a clash in Sonora near a gap in the border fence that has become a popular smuggling point, Fox Business first reported. Just north of that location, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a gunman who was carrying an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, a handgun, and ammunition.
U.S. agents had responded to the location near Nogales, Arizona, after observing an exchange of gunfire on the Mexican side. Available information does not reveal if the gunmen were fighting with a rival group or with authorities.

RELATED: Internal DHS Memo: Border Walls Are Most Effective Way to Stop Illegal Immigration
Published December 15, 2023
The Biden Administration, who has attacked former President Trump for building a wall at the southern border, are hopping aboard the idea as the president’s crisis continues to wreak havoc.
According to an internal Department of Homeland Security memo, border walls are the most effective way of stopping illegal migrants from entering the United States.
Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) obtained a 2017 memo for then-Acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan after a public records request.
The report contradicts President Joe Biden’s claim that border walls are a “waste of money” and “not a serious policy solution” rather than a cost-effective tool. The memo suggests that Biden purposely halted the construction of the border wall so that it was easier for illegal aliens to enter the U.S.

Washington — Less than two weeks after he took office and halted border wall construction, announced a deportation pause and suspended a rule requiring migrants to await their court dates in Mexico, President Biden issued an executive order signaling a dramatic shift in U.S. immigration policy.
His administration, Mr. Biden promised in that February 2021 order, would “restore and strengthen” the U.S. asylum system and reject the Trump administration’s border policies that “contravened our values and caused needless human suffering.”
Nearly three years into his tenure, Mr. Biden now finds himself entertaining drastic and permanent restrictions on asylum — including an extraordinary authority first invoked by former President Donald Trump to summarily expel migrants during spikes in illegal crossings — in order to convince congressional Republicans to support more military aid to Ukraine.
