President Biden and former President Donald Trump both touched down in Texas on Thursday afternoon, headed to two different sites along the US-Mexico border, as the migrant crisis resulting from record-setting illegal immigration is a top issue in their likely election rematch.
Trump began speaking just after 4 p.m. from the border in Eagle Pass — a migrant hotbed that’s been the nexus of a fight between the state of Texas and the Biden administration — and invited a lead border patrol officer to the mic, who said agents there are “mad as hell” at Biden’s handling of the immigration crisis.
Biden, 81, announced his trip Monday, after Trump, 77, had set his own trip there for today to slam Biden’s policies.
“What I didn’t know was that my good friend apparently is going,” Biden insisted during an NYC visit Monday, while a Trump campaign official told The Post that “Biden chasing us to the border … shows just how big of a problem this is for him.”
Trump will be in Eagle Pass, Texas, while Biden will be about 325 miles away in Brownsville.
Biden made the first known visit of his career to the border in January last year after sustained criticism from Republicans over his handling of the mounting illegal immigration crisis.

Joe Biden arrived in Brownsville, Texas on Thursday for a drive-by photo-op border visit.
Brownsville is a desolate stretch with virtually no illegal alien invasion compared to other hot spots such as El Paso and Eagle Pass.
Trump supporters protested Biden’s arrival.

Biden took 94 executive actions in his first 100 days in office to weaken border security.
Since then, millions of military-age men from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and China have invaded the US.

President Joe Biden and likely Republican challenger Donald Trump arrived Thursday in Texas, some 300 miles apart, for dueling trips to the U.S.-Mexico border in a sign of how central immigration has become to the 2024 election and how much each man wants to use it to his advantage.
Each chose an optimal location to underscore his points.
Biden, who wants to spotlight how Republicans tanked a bipartisan border security deal on Trump’s orders, went to the Rio Grande Valley city of Brownsville. For nine years, this was the busiest corridor for illegal crossings, but they have dropped sharply in recent months.
“Brownsville, Texas, is a very good glimpse of how dynamic and challenging that migration phenomenon is,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said from Air Force One.
