Debate: Is Global Warming an Emergency

When it comes to science it is very important to be precise, precise when it comes to terminology, and precise when it comes to facts. Here’s an example of how messy and bad it can be:

By Charles Rotter – WUWT
Newsweek’s “The Debate” podcast invited James Taylor on their program to debate Heather Goldstone, the chief communications officer of the Woodell Climate Research Center.

Kudos to the podcast hosts at Newsweek for giving this topic a fair and even-handed airing.

James Taylor, President of the Heartland Institute

For the vast majority of the time that human civilization has existed, temperatures have been significantly warmer than today. More than 30,000 scientists have signed on to a paper saying that we’re not facing a climate emergency.

Throughout the history of the earth, a more normal level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been about 1000 parts per million, not the 420 ppm we see today. The fact that carbon dioxide levels are so high, and yet compared to over the past few 100 or few 1,000 years, temperatures are lower than they’ve been throughout most of human civilization, tells you that carbon dioxide is not the control knob for global temperatures.

I believe humans may be playing some role in that warming. But saying you know for sure—I think that’s really taking a leap of logic. The American Meteorological Society is the only scientific body in the world whose full membership has been polled extensively on this issue. And when they are asked, “How concerned are you?” only 30 percent say they are very concerned.

We know for a fact that the earth is greening; NASA satellites have measured it. We also know for a fact that crop production is setting records nearly every year in most countries. According to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, they have very low confidence of any negative observed impacts between global warming and severe weather events. NASA satellites have measured a decline in global wildfires. We see beneficial impacts from more atmospheric carbon dioxide and warmer temperatures.

It is very important to have affordable and abundant energy; that’s the lifeblood of any economy. There’s a reason why in virtually every country in the world, new energy projects being built and being implemented are coal and natural gas, primarily. I don’t think that the leaders in virtually every country in the world lack intelligence; I don’t think they’re stupid. There’s a reason why coal and natural gas dominate energy production. If and when the day comes that wind power, solar power can compete with coal and natural gas, I’ll be the first one cheering them on. Full article ..

First question in the debate: “Do you agree that the global temperature is increasing?” Both Taylor and Goldstone answered: Yes!

Unadjusted, previously published historical, empirical thermometer measurements shows that the temperature has been falling by over 0,5 C. since the peak of the warm 30’s. There’s no traces in the thermometer data of any effect of CO2.

Heather Goldstone, Woodell Climate Research Center

Second question: Do you agree that humans are playing, at least some role in that warming? Again both Taylor and Woodell did agree.

I get why the dishonest activist agree, that is her job, she gets paid to be deceptive, to lie. Why Taylor doesn’t answer “No!” is a bit puzzling. Then again, depending on your start point you can always get an upward curvature.

Third question: Do you agree that we should reduce pollution? Taylor answered: It’s always good to reduce pollution if we can do so in a way that passes a cost benefit analysis. Woodell answered: I think we urgently need to do so and l think that is what the science tells us.

Less than 4 minute out in a debate about the CLIMATE they jump straight to another topic, pollution. What on Gods green earth has pollution got to do with the climate??

The climate is controlled by the sun, pollution is the dirt, filth and poisonous garbage leftists throw all over the place

Check out the old Soviet Union, today’s China or a “green” rally – does it look like leftists care about the environment, nature or pollution?

Millions of abortions each year, Gulags, death camps, gas chambers,  numerous mass graves and last year’s rioting by the criminal deep state under cover of BLM and Antifa document the fact that they don’t even care about human lives.

Forth question: Do you agree that the climate is always changing? Taylor answered, yes! Woodell: It is always changing but not at the phase that it is right now and that is a really important distinction.

Right back to the climate, seriously??

A slow decline in temperature over the last 85 years is a too rapid phase … of cooling???

Calling “Man Made Global Warming” (AGW) “Climate Change” is deeply dishonest. If every single change in the weather is a problem how do you prioritize among all the different weather events you want to ..stop, or mitigate?? What hurricane, storm, flood, drought, heat wave has humans ever manage to stop?

.. only those who put humans in danger? How can you know what drought, flood, hurricane, heat wave etc. will be a problem – in advance?

By reducing CO2 in the atmosphere you are able to mitigate all changes?

Where is the evidence for that? CO2 has never in geological, ice core data, or historical records been the control nob for temperature, what has changed?

I know, l know, – l wrote too much, wasted a lot of time on an ad hom, shiny object and distraction.

Everybody knows it’s not about science, facts, data, pollution or CO2, in fact it’s not even about the climate.

It’s all about the money and the Communist power grab, new world order, the great reset and population reduction (more Gulags and mass graves).

Population reduction is based on the naive belief that we are running out of resources when in fact the biggest resource for more resources is the human brain, we actually need more brains for a number of issues, not the least low IQ., dishonest “green” leftism.

July 2021 A Month Of Extremes? The Archives Say Otherwise

Damn leftists are stupid! To stop ocean currents you need to stop the earth’s rotation around its own axis, in addition to stop the energy from the sun reaching the earth, keeping water above 0 C. So .. Not today?:

Why do CO2 lag behind temperature?

71% of the earth is covered by ocean, water is a 1000 times denser than air and the mass of the oceans are 360 times that of the atmosphere, small temperature changes in the oceans doesn’t only modulate air temperature, but it also affect the CO2 level according to Henry’s Law.

The reason it is called “Law” is because it has been “proven”!

“.. scientific laws describe phenomena that the scientific community has found to be provably true ..”

That means, the graph proves CO2 do not control temperature, that again proves (Man Made) Global Warming, now called “Climate Change” due to lack of … Warming is – again – debunked!
