The Morning Briefing: Democrats Want the Border Crisis to Get Worse Ahead of the Election

Published December 21, 2023

Over the weekend, I joined 14 Republican Senate colleagues in releasing a letter calling for a meeting of the Senate Republican Conference to discuss the negotiations with the White House and Senate Democrats regarding securing our border . The letter appears to have succeeded in letting Senate leadership know that a large group of senators does not want to be jammed with legislation addressing the catastrophe at our border without a thorough review by us and the public.

The crisis at the southwest border is unlike anything we’ve experienced in history. The massive flood of illegal migration is an order of magnitude larger than the “humanitarian crisis” former President Barack Obama sparked when he abused prosecutorial discretion and granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in 2012. In 2019, Obama’s Homeland Security secretary, Jeh Johnson, stated that 1,000 apprehensions per day “overwhelm[ed] the system.” We recently experienced more than 14,000 encounters in a single day, and it has become common for encounters to exceed 10,000 per day.

Of the more than 6 million immigrants who have entered and stayed since President Joe Biden took office and opened the border, approximately 1.7 million have been what Customs and Border Protection calls “known gotaways.” That’s a misnomer because we have no idea who these people are or where they went — we just detected them illegally crossing our porous border. With FBI Director Christopher Wray confirming that terrorist threats to our nation are at an all-time high, particularly from foreign terrorist organizations, Biden’s open border represents a clear and present danger to America.

Unfortunately, Biden and his Democratic allies in Congress want an open border. Biden came into office with the border largely secured and then immediately reversed all the policies that had successfully stemmed the flow of illegal immigrants. The fact that Biden and congressional Democrats are the root cause of the crisis is a major problem in conducting good-faith negotiations with them.

Indeed, because Biden has not faithfully executed existing law, repeatedly lied to the public, ignored and violated Supreme Court rulings, and failed to engage in meaningful negotiations on securing the border until only recently, it is impossible for Republicans to trust him to comply with whatever he agrees to. That’s a real challenge for Republican negotiators.

Top O’ the Briefing

Happy Thursday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Halzwynd’s casual flair with a fez had won him quite the following at the cul-de-sac waffle klatches.

As 2023 draws to a close, and we prepare ourselves to enter what promises to be a most ridiculous election year, it’s exhausting to think that the things wearing out the good people of this country have a great chance of getting much worse.

In the case of the humanitarian and national security crisis on our southern border, it’s pretty much a guarantee.

Joe Biden’s puppet masters made it a point to start screwing up the border from the moment he got into office. The priority wasn’t what was best for the United States of America, but what could be done to undo whatever President Trump had done. In the fevered minds of Trump-hating Democrats, anything Trump did while president was wrong, so anything they could do to reverse his achievements would, therefore, be good.

How’s that working out so far?

The border news seems to get worse by the minute. Rick wrote yesterday about the latest record-setting mess to the south:

On Monday, there were more than 12,600 encounters with illegal aliens along the Southwestern border, a record for one day. It’s a record that is not going to last long, and that record of one-day encounters does not include another 4,500 still being processed.

Agents at Eagle Pass, Texas, are dealing with an unprecedented situation. They are outnumbered 200 to 1.

The government has closed three border crossings, much to the chagrin of businesses that depend on cross-border commerce with Mexico. But it’s a question of manpower. The border patrol can’t process the illegals fast enough or release them quickly enough to control the overwhelming numbers of people crashing the border.

RELATED: Texas border agents outnumbered 200 to 1 by migrants at Eagle Pass — station at 260% capacity

Published December 20, 2023

US border agents in Eagle Pass, Texas, are outnumbered by migrants 200 to 1 even as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) staff have been dispatched from stations across the country to aid the overwhelmed port of entry, The Post has learned.

The Texas border station was processing over 4,500 migrants into the facility on Tuesday while a further 5,300 people were already being held inside, bringing it to 260% capacity, according to figures from Fox News.

CBP checkpoints across the state have been forced to close and divert manpower to Eagle Pass, Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales told The Post, which he says leaves those communities unpatrolled, allowing drug and people smugglers to operate unimpeded in more rural areas.

“Every single checkpoint is closed — Uvalde, Carizzo — every single checkpoint is closed and every single border patrol agent is here,” Gonzalez said.

“Guess where they’re not? In the field stopping bad actors and nefarious goods coming over.”

“It’s dangerous,” he added. “Everybody is overwhelmed.”

The diversion of manpower has extended beyond Texas, with CBP personnel flying in from areas around the US to help.

“I met a guy from Buffalo and another one from New Jersey — I mean they’re coming to help out from all over the country,” said Gonzalez, who gave the figure for how outnumbered agents are.

Despite the migrant crush, Gonzalez said CBP staff remain “very resilient.”

Eagle Pass already closed one of its two international bridges into Mexico to consolidate resources earlier this month, and this week halted freight train access across the border, too.

Other ports of entry across Arizona and California have also been closed to divert manpower.

Why do CO2 lag behind temperature?

71% of the earth is covered by ocean, water is a 1000 times denser than air and the mass of the oceans are 360 times that of the atmosphere, small temperature changes in the oceans doesn’t only modulate air temperature, but it also affect the CO2 level according to Henry’s Law.

The reason it is called “Law” is because it has been “proven”!

“.. scientific laws describe phenomena that the scientific community has found to be provably true ..”

That means, the graph proves CO2 do not control temperature, that again proves (Man Made) Global Warming, now called “Climate Change” due to lack of … Warming is – again – debunked!
