Alina Habba, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump in his New York civil case, ripped Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron as “unhinged” and said he slammed a table in court on Monday during Trump’s testimony.
Habba contended to reporters during a lunch break that Engoron “has already predetermined that my client committed fraud before we even walked into this courtroom” before quoting the justice’s remarks from earlier in the day when he was unsatisfied with Trump’s answers on the witness stand. She also took a shot at New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought the case against Trump and his two eldest sons.

The combustible atmosphere in the civil trial of former President Donald Trump on allegations of fraud turned into open fireworks Monday in a New York courtroom as Trump took the stand.
Legal analyst Lisa Rubin posted on Xone snippet of the sniping that took place as Judge Arthur Engoron vented to Trump defense attorney Chris Kise his displeasure with the 2024 presidential candidate’s answers on the stand.
“Mr. Kise, can you control your client? This is not a political rally … Maybe you should have a talk with him right now,” Rubin quoted Engoron as saying.
Kise instead said it would be better to let the “former and future chief executive of the United States” answer.

The civil fraud trial against former President Donald Trump continued Monday, with Trump himself taking the stand to testify. As RedState reported, New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron clashed with Trump and his attorneys, admonishing the Trump legal team that “This is not a political rally. This is a courtroom.”
Reports of Monday morning’s proceedings also indicated that Judge Engoron got into a shouting match with Trump attorney Alina Habba, telling her to “Sit down!”
During one heated exchange, Trump attorney Alina Habba told the judge that “you are here to hear what he has to say.”
Engoron shouted in response, commanding her to “sit down.”
“No, I am not here to hear what he has to say!” he yelled.
From the witness stand, Trump interjected: “This is a very unfair trial — very, very — and I hope the public is watching.”
During a break in the proceedings, Habba held a brief press conference on the courthouse steps, addressing the morning’s fireworks and going scorched earth on both Judge Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Habba addressed her heated exchange with Judge Engoron.
