Comment to “The Radiation Fight” by lukewarmer Willis Eschenbach: “.. downwelling radiation from the atmosphere is a fantasy ..” because of convection. “Downwelling” is not new energy, it’s only low energy remnants of energy from the surface that is being processed and radiated out of the atmosphere. “.. or how a cool atmosphere can’t leave the surface warmer than no atmosphere ..” Which is both wrong and dishonest because that is “whataboutism” kind of BS – It doesn’t reflect the reality. We do in fact have an atmosphere.
But the atmosphere’s mass, pressure and gravity does delay energy (heat) loss, water, water vapor and moist also play a big part when it comes to conservation and transport of energy (heat), CO2 does not!
