Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis admitted in a Friday court filing to a relationship with a lawyer she appointed to prosecute former President Donald Trump but denied the relationship interfered in the case.

Until Friday, Willis had not confirmed the affair or denied the impact of the relationship on the case.

If Willis resigns or recuses herself from the case, it could effectively end the county’s prosecution of Trump or potentially delay the proceedings until after the presidential election. Republicans have accused Willis of interfering in the presidential election.

Trump and codefendant Mike Roman have accused Willis and Nathan Wade, her top prosecutor, of corruption in the case for:

Maintaining an improper romantic relationship
Enriching themselves through the taxpayer-funded prosecution
Meeting with Biden administration officials before indicting Trump and codefendants
Willis claimed the allegations are “meritless” and “salacious” and requested the judge reject the motion filed by Trump and codefendants that would essentially torpedo her case, Willis’s 176-page court filing states:

“District Attorney Willis has no financial conflict of interest that constitutes a legal basis for disqualification;”
“District Attorney Willis has no personal conflict of interest that justifies her disqualification personally or that of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office;”
“The attacks on Special Prosecutor Wade’s qualifications are factually inaccurate, unsupported, and malicious, in addition to providing no basis whatsoever to dismiss the indictment or disqualify Special Prosecutor Wade;”
“Criticism of the process utilized to appoint and compensate the special prosecutors in this case demonstrates basic misunderstandings of rudimentary county and state regulations, and provides no legal basis for dismissal of the indictment or disqualification of any member of the prosecution.”

A defendant in the Georgia election interference case charged alongside former President Trump has doubled down on allegations Fulton County (Ga.) District Attorney Fani Willis (D) and a top prosecutor in the case began a romantic relationship prior to his hiring.

Michael Roman, a 2020 Trump campaign operative, in court filings Friday urged the judge to move ahead with plans for a hearing so Roman’s team can cross-examine Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade in an attempt to get them disqualified from the case.

Roman’s lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, said she intends to show that Willis and Wade began “more than just a friendship” at a 2019 conference — three years prior to when the pair has said their relationship began, and also before Wade’s hiring to the election interference case.

“They are hoping this Court simply sees all growing smoke cloud and says, ‘No fire, nothing else to see here,’” Merchant wrote. “It is not that simple.”

The Hill requested comment from the Fulton County district attorney’s office.

Earlier in the day, Willis confirmed for the first time that she began a “personal relationship” with Wade in 2022 but insisted they were only friends when she first hired him, and vigorously defended her decision to do so, portraying him as an experienced attorney capable of leading one of the historic prosecutions against the former president.

She also urged the judge to reject the calls for her and Wade to step aside and do so without holding a hearing, arguing there was no legal basis for disqualification.

Merchant rebuffed Willis’s timeline of the relationship, however, suggesting there are witnesses who will repudiate the assertions.

RELATED: Fani Willis Is in Full Panic Mode

Published February 2, 2024

As RedState reported, Fani Willis finally responded to the allegations that she hired the man she was having an affair with to be a special counsel in her office. For some reason, she decided to give her remarks in front of a black church congregation. In doing so, she interspersed claims of racial persecution with a total disregard for her moral and professional failures.

In other words, she’s in full panic mode.

WILLIS: God, why don’t they look at themselves and just be honest? I mean, they can’t keep it a hundred with themselves? Why are they surprised that a diverse team I assembled, your child, can accomplish extraordinary things? God, wasn’t it them who attacked this lawyer of impeccable credentials?

Nothing makes me cringe more than when a politician who has obviously engaged in immoral acts starts using God as a prop to defend their behavior. That is exactly what Willis is doing. Instead of taking responsibility for the fact that she allegedly had an affair and then hired her “lover” to be a special counsel in a completely improper and unethical fashion, she’s citing God and playing the victim.

It’d be different if Willis was apologetic, or in a religious context, repentant. She hasn’t shown an ounce of contrition, though. Instead, she’s doing what Democrat politicians who aren’t white always do: Claim racism.

Willis pointed out during her speech that the other two prosecutors assigned to the case, Anna Green Cross and John Floyd, both are white, and noted that allegations have only emerged targeting the two prominent black members of the prosecution — her and Wade.

“Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years?” she asked.

Green Cross and John Floyd, the other special counsels, are indeed white. They also didn’t have an affair with Willis, which is the entire crux of the matter. So while the audience she was speaking to nodded along, I don’t think any fair-minded person would agree with her framing.

But according to Willis’ alternate reality, if only she were white, no one would care that she hired her boy-toy to a high-level professional role while prosecuting the former President of the United States. Her evidence for that? She provides none because there is none. There is no reason to think race has anything to do with the criticisms being levied at her.

In fact, there may be reason to believe that her race has helped her avoid scrutiny, which is what we saw with former Harvard President Claudine Gay. It was only after multiple allegations of plagiarism were levied in addition to her antisemitism scandal that she was finally forced out. That happened long after a white university president who did the same thing in the same hearing had already resigned.

Think about how arrogant Willis had to be to put herself in this position. When you decide to try to throw a former president in jail on specious charges, you better have your own house in order. That is not the time to start mixing your affairs with work, yet Willis did it anyway. I can only assume she felt she’d get away with it, and perhaps she will. She’s panicking, though, and it’s obvious.

Why do CO2 lag behind temperature?

71% of the earth is covered by ocean, water is a 1000 times denser than air and the mass of the oceans are 360 times that of the atmosphere, small temperature changes in the oceans doesn’t only modulate air temperature, but it also affect the CO2 level according to Henry’s Law.

The reason it is called “Law” is because it has been “proven”!

“.. scientific laws describe phenomena that the scientific community has found to be provably true ..”

That means, the graph proves CO2 do not control temperature, that again proves (Man Made) Global Warming, now called “Climate Change” due to lack of … Warming is – again – debunked!
