President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet during the US-Russia summit at Villa La Grange on June 16, 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland

‘We are paying very heavily now for failing to face the insurance premiums essential for security of an Empire! This has usually been the main cause for the loss of Empires in the past.’
That was a diary entry written in February 1942 by General Sir Alan Brooke, the chief of the Imperial General Staff, whose steady pair of hands steered Britain to victory in World War II.
We no longer have an empire, only a nation state — the United Kingdom. But nation states, as much as empires, must take out insurance if they are to avoid the kind of strategic disaster that befell Britain in early 1942, when Singapore surrendered to Japan and multiple British possessions around the world — not to mention the British Isles themselves — were threatened by the Axis powers.
Could we face comparable perils in our time? It is easy to dismiss talk of World War III, especially when it comes from Donald Trump, the man who would be President again.
‘Through weakness and incompetence, Joe Biden has brought us to the brink of World War III,’ Trump declared in South Carolina on Saturday. ‘We’re at the brink of World War III, just in case anybody doesn’t know it.’

RELATED: Biden’s failure to deter Iran risks World War III in the Middle East

It is only with the benefit of hindsight that we can now see how Europe stumbled, half asleep, into World War I. At the time, no one could predict how a localized regional conflict would spark what was then the most devastating conflict in human history.
Now, slightly more than a century later, it is the U.S. that is sleepwalking towards a full-blown world war, as the risks of a regional war metastasizing into a wider war continue to rise exponentially.
Put another way, more than three months after Hamas invaded Israel, killed approximately 1,200 people and abducted more than 200 hostages, leading to an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza, the world is sitting on the precipice of another world war.
To that end, if we are to avoid such a catastrophic scenario, the United States must not only be clear-eyed about the growing risks but also who our enemies are and their intentions. Above all else, we must be resolute in our determination to prevent the conflict between Israel and Hamas from spreading further than it already has.
After the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, President Biden made it clear that he had two priorities: Keep the fighting contained to Gaza, and deter Iran from taking advantage of the chaos, either by attacking Israel directly or unleashing its Hezbollah and Houthi proxies to attack Israeli or American targets.
To accomplish his goals, Biden — admirably — ordered the largest show of force in support of Israel since 1973, sending two aircraft carrier strike groups to the region and issuing a strongly-worded warning to Iran and Hezbollah not to intervene.

RELATED:Manipulation: Biden confirms World War III has started
Published February 1, 2024
A video is circulating on social networks, in which, allegedly, American President Joe Biden confirms that the Third World War has already begun. Like, for the offensive in Ukraine they will use equipment and aircraft with American pilots and crews. This is manipulation.
Part of the video and a quote taken out of context are being distributed on social networks. Biden’s quote was taken from his speech at the Democratic House of Representatives conference in Philadelphia back in March 2022. As the VoxCheck fact-checkers explain, Biden is clear that Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine will not escalate into World War III. Further, he notes that this is possible on the condition that, along with weapons, the United States will send American specialists to Ukraine. It was this part of speech that was used for manipulation.
Russian propaganda has previously spread the message that the Third World War is going on in Ukraine. This message is used, among other things, to explain the duration and failures of the so-called “special military operation” as they say that Russia is at war not only with Ukraine, but also with the “collective West”.
