Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told Newsmax on Friday that terrorists who are on the terror watchlist pay extra to avoid being apprehended when they cross into the United States.
Abbott joined “Greg Kelly Reports” in the studio in New York City to address the illegal immigration problem under President Joe Biden, one that he said is rife with national security threats, especially because nobody knows how many on that watchlist are in the country.
“America has an urgency about the broken borders. Among other things, the number of known terrorists continues to increase coming across the border. More than that, however, if you are a terrorist and on the terrorist watchlist, you pay extra not to be apprehended,” Abbott told host Greg Kelly. “No one in America knows how many terrorists are coming across the border.”
“FBI Director [Christopher] Wray indicated that because of the terrorists coming across the border, it could lead to a 9/11-type terrorist attack. We have a president whose top responsibility is national security. The president is failing at national security,” Abbott said.
Kelly asked Abbott his opinion about what’s behind Biden abdicating his responsibility to enforce the border.

RELATED: Gov. Abbott Warns of Possible 9/11-Like Terrorist Attack Amid Joe Biden’s Open Border
Published April 6, 2024
Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is warning Americans that another 9/11-like attack is a strong possibility as President Joe Biden’s open border continues to pose a security risk to the United States.
He criticized the Biden Administration for refusing to take responsibility and stop terrorists from crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, threatening American communities and their safety.
Abbott said that the number of known illegal terrorist immigrants that have been apprehended is “extraordinary,” but stressed that an even bigger number of illegal aliens have successfully crossed the border without being caught.
The administration is doing nothing to stop terrorists from coming across the border. They are knowingly allowing them in. And there are two categories here. There are the terrorists who were actually apprehended. The terrorists apprehended are an all-time record. Many multiples of those who came across the border under the Trump administration.
Second… the terrorist will pay extra not to be caught. What that means is the number that we’ve caught — which is extraordinary — there’s far more than that have gotten across the border. Also last month, the FBI director talked about a potential 9/11-type terrorist attack because of the terrorists who are coming across our border. The chief job of the President of the United States is national security. President Biden is failing at national security.
We are extraordinarily concerned about a terrorist attack occurring in Texas or elsewhere in the United States because the terrorists who are crossing our border at will go unstopped by the bottom.

RELATED: Adams touts NYC’s ability to ‘manage’ migrant crisis, offers Abbott free stay at shelter during trip
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will headline a New York Republican Party fundraiser in Manhattan Thursday evening
Published April 4, 2024
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, said on Thursday that he hopes Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will see how the city has managed the migrant crisis, during his trip to the Big Apple by offering the Republican governor a complimentary stay at a migrant shelter.
Adams’ comments came shortly before Abbott, who has bussed thousands of migrants to New York City over the last few years, will headline the New York Republican Party’s annual gala Thursday evening.
“I’m going to offer him a stay in one of the HERRCs so he can see what he has created and understand how we are treating people with the dignity and respect that he should have shown as well,” Adams said at a press conference when asked about Abbott’s trip to the city.
“HERRCs,” as used by Adams, refers to New York City’s humanitarian emergency response and relief centers, which have served as temporary housing facilities for migrants who arrive in the city.
“I’m not quite sure why he’s here and what he’s doing while here, but he’s going to see how you can manage the crisis with the coordination of not one child of families sleeping on the streets of the city of New York,” Adams added. “When we coordinate together, we should not displace problems to local municipalities. That is not what executives do. It is unfortunate that he made the decision to do that.”
