A group of House Republicans is reminding President Joe Biden he does not have any authority under existing federal immigration law to bring Palestinians from Gaza to the United States via a parole pipeline.
Reps. Josh Brecheen (R-OK), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Jeff Duncan (R-SC), and Clay Higgins (R-LA) have sent a letter to Biden asking him to oppose resettling Palestinians across American communities — an issue the White House has been silent on even as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) have voiced their support for such a plan.
The Republicans write that “no authority exists to grant categorical parole” to a group of foreign nationals, even as Biden opened parole pipelines for Afghans and Ukrainians in the last two years.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Former US president Donald Trump and other top Republicans want the US to seal its borders against a potential mass exodus of Palestinians fleeing war in the Gaza Strip, suggesting that a surge of civilian refugees could allow extremists into the country.
But such a wave is highly unlikely.
People fleeing the fighting, triggered by a brutal Hamas massacre inside Israel on October 7, are largely barred from getting out of Gaza, and US law already gives authorities broad leeway to deny people entry into the country if they present security risks. Cases of extremists crossing into the US illegally are also virtually non-existent.
Here’s a closer look at what’s being said and what the realities are.
Who wants to ban Palestinian refugees from the US?
Trump has been the most outspoken on this issue. The former US president vowed while campaigning in Iowa this week to bar refugees from Gaza and immediately expand a Muslim travel ban he imposed via executive order during his first administration.

Republicans look to block refugees from Gaza.

House Republicans are moving to introduce legislation to block the United States from accepting any new Palestinian refugees who may emerge from the current crisis in Gaza.
Experts told The Post that more than a million such refugees could be created as Israel continues its bombardment of the Hamas-controlled enclave, one of those most densely populated regions in the world.
Reps. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) and Andy Ogles (R-TN) told Breitbart News they planned to imminently introduce the “Guaranteeing Aggressors Zero Admission Act” or the GAZA Act in order to prevent the Biden administration from granting visas to any holder of a Palestinian passport.
The bill would also prevent the Department of Homeland Security from allowing Palestinians into the United States through the agency’s parole program.
“We can’t let President Biden abuse our parole and visa rules to bring unvetted Palestinians into American communities the way he did with thousands of unvetted Afghans,” Tiffany said in a posting to X Saturday.
