Jan 24 (Reuters) – Ohio’s Republican-dominated Senate voted on Wednesday to ban gender-affirming care for minors and prohibit transgender athletes from competing on girls’ and women’s sports teams, overriding a veto and finalizing the measures as law.
Ohio’s Republican Governor Mike DeWine had vetoed the legislation, in a break with his party, saying that he had heard from parents of transgender youth who told him gender-affirming care had been lifesaving for their children.
But Ohio’s Senate on Wednesday joined the House of Representatives to override the governor’s veto.
“The Ohio Senate deserves to be commended today for its commitment to protecting women and children,” Republican state Representative and bill sponsor Gary Click said in a statement, adding that the legislation addresses “the civil rights issues of our day.”
The new law, due to take effect in 90 days, will block physicians from performing gender reassignment surgery or prescribing puberty-blocking drugs to assist a minor with gender transition.
It will also prohibit school districts, public universities and private colleges that participate in national athletics conferences from allowing trans women to participate in women’s sports.
“Transgender Ohioans, their families, and allies will continue to fight for our rights because Ohio is our home,” Siobhan Boyd-Nelson, co-interim executive director of LGBTQ rights group Equality Ohio, said in a statement.

RELATED: Ohio lawmakers override DeWine veto of gender-affirming care ban, transgender athlete restrictions

Published January 24, 2024

The Ohio Senate voted 23-9 Wednesday to override Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto of legislation banning gender-affirming health care for minors and preventing transgender women and girls from competing on female school sports teams.

Ohio now joins nearly two dozen other GOP-led states that have adopted similar laws after the state House also voted earlier this month to overturn the veto.

LGBTQ advocates, medical professionals and families of transgender children have largely condemned the bill, and hundreds of opponents — including the president of Ohio’s Children’s Hospital Association — testified against House Bill 68 during public hearings last year. A similar bill filed last session by Ohio House Republicans died in committee after nearly 300 witnesses submitted opponent testimony.

DeWine vetoed House Bill 68 on Dec. 29, telling reporters at a press conference that such a measure, if allowed to become law, would do more harm than good.

“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,” he said. “Many parents have told me that their child would not have survived — would be dead today — if they had not received the treatment they received from one of Ohio’s children’s hospitals.”

Democrats and liberal activists on social media were outraged Wednesday after the Ohio Senate overrode a veto of a bill banning transgender medical procedures for minors.

The state Senate voted Wednesday 28 to 4 to pass a bill that would ban sex-change surgeries, cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers for minors, and overrode Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto from December after the House passed the legislation on Jan. 10. Activists and Democrats, however, went after the Ohio GOP, and even former President Donald Trump, for the decision on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Fuck the Ohio Senate who voted 23-9 to override the veto of HB68. It will go into effect on May 30. Join our partners for tomorrow night’s town hall,” the Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund wrote in a post.

The X account for the Ohio Democrats also bemoaned the decision in a post, arguing that the bill was in defiance of the “medical community.”

“Today Ohio becomes the most restrictive state in the country for gender-affirming healthcare. Corrupt politicians yet again stripped healthcare freedom — defying the medical community who testified against HB68. November proved Ohioans are ready for change and, next election…,” the group wrote.

Why do CO2 lag behind temperature?

71% of the earth is covered by ocean, water is a 1000 times denser than air and the mass of the oceans are 360 times that of the atmosphere, small temperature changes in the oceans doesn’t only modulate air temperature, but it also affect the CO2 level according to Henry’s Law.

The reason it is called “Law” is because it has been “proven”!

“.. scientific laws describe phenomena that the scientific community has found to be provably true ..”

That means, the graph proves CO2 do not control temperature, that again proves (Man Made) Global Warming, now called “Climate Change” due to lack of … Warming is – again – debunked!
