Attorneys for the former president made the filing in the federal 2020 election case.
Former President Donald Trump in a new court filing alleged former Vice President Mike Pence of attempting to “curry favor” with the Department of Justice (DOJ) in his Jan. 6-related case in a bid to evade criminal charges.
The FBI found more classified documents at the former vice president’s house weeks later in February 2023. The investigation reportedly ended in June with no criminal charges being filed against Mr. Pence.
“The potential criminal charges faced by Vice President Pence gave him an incentive to curry favor with authorities by providing information that is consistent with the Biden Administration’s preferred, and false, narrative regarding this case,” the Trump attorneys wrote in the filing.

Lawyers for former President Donald Trump want access to internal government records and private communications related to the federal case against him in connection to the 2020 election, arguing in a lengthy Monday court filingthat the information would shed light on Trump’s “good faith” efforts to overturn his loss to Joe Biden.
“The indictment in this case reflects little more than partisan advocacy designed to sabotage President Trump’s leading campaign for the 2024 President[ial] Election,” attorneys John Lauro and Todd Blanche wrote of special counsel Jack Smith’s case.
“Consistent with that improper and unlawful goal, the Special Counsel’s Office has chosen to rely on the views of witnesses who aligned with the Biden Administration’s political viewpoints, and to treat those biased opinions as objective and irrefutable truths regarding the integrity of the 2020 election and the events of January 6, 2021.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Justice has informed former Vice President Mike Pence ‘s legal team that it will not pursue criminal charges related to the discovery of classified documents at his Indiana home.
The department sent a letter to Pence’s attorney Thursday informing his team that, after an investigation into the potential mishandling of classified information, no criminal charges will be sought. A Justice Department official confirmed the authenticity of the letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press.
The news comes days before Pence is set to launch his campaign for the Republican nomination for president in Iowa Wednesday — a race that will put him in direct competition with his old boss, former President Donald Trump.
No evidence has ever emerged to suggest that Pence intentionally hid documents from the government or even knew they were in his home, so there was never an expectation that he would face charges. But that decision and timing were nonetheless welcome news for the former vice president and his political team as he prepares to enter the crowded GOP primary field and contrast himself with Trump.

The ex-vice president had been “unaware” of them, his representative said.

Classified documents have been found in the home of former Vice President Mike Pence and turned over to the FBI for review, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.
A lawyer for Pence conducted the search of Pence’s home in Indiana last week and found around a dozen documents marked as classified, sources said. The search was done proactively and in the wake of the news that classified documents from before he was president were found in Joe Biden’s home and old office at the Penn Biden Center, a Washington, D.C., think tank.
The Pence documents are undergoing a review by the Department of Justice’s National Security Division and the FBI, the sources said.
The revelation makes Pence the third high-profile official to have classified material discovered at their residence in recent months, after Biden and former President Donald Trump, both of whom are now being investigated by special counselsunder the Department of Justice.
